About Belt Holders

Belt Holders tracks the lineal championship belt in professional sports: one title per league, passed from team to team only by beating whoever holds it. It's a companion to the College Football Belt, which has tracked the same idea in college football since 1869, and the College Basketball Belt.

The site is independent and fan-run. It isn't affiliated with the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, or any team. Team names are used only to identify the teams.
